Troubleshooting common errors
What the most common messages mean and how to fix them.
"No AI provider is connected"
Add an Anthropic or OpenAI key in Settings → Connected services. See Get a Claude API key.
Key test fails: 401, "invalid x-api-key" or "Incorrect API key"
The key was mistyped, revoked or belongs to a different provider. Create a new key and paste it again, with no spaces before or after.
"Credit balance is too low", 429 or "insufficient_quota"
Your AI account is out of credits or hit its limit. Add credits or raise the limit in the provider's billing page.
Rate limits or "overloaded"
The provider is busy, or your account's tier limits were reached. Wait a minute and retry. Twelve Seat automatically falls back to another model when one is overloaded.
"Database update needed"
This message is for whoever runs your Twelve Seat installation. It means a database update must be run in Supabase. If you see it on twelveseat.com, contact support.
Voice problems
See Voice calls and Live mode.
Grok Bot errors
See Connect Grok Bot.
AI app connection (MCP) problems
A meeting seems stuck
Meetings run in the background and usually finish within a couple of minutes. Refresh the page. If an advisor errored, the meeting shows the message; check your key and credits, then ask again.
