Get a Claude (Anthropic) API key

Create an Anthropic Console account, add credits, make a key and paste it into Settings.

Claude is Anthropic's AI. Twelve Seat uses it for your advisors, meetings and Executive Assistant. A Claude.ai subscription (Pro or Max) is not the same thing as an API key. The API is billed separately, by usage, in the Anthropic Console.

Steps

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign up (or sign in).
  2. Open Billing and add credits. The API is prepaid. A small amount is enough to start; you can turn on auto-reload later.
  3. Open API Keys and click Create Key. Name it "Twelve Seat".
  4. Copy the key. It starts with sk-ant-. It's shown only once, so paste it somewhere safe or straight into Twelve Seat.
  5. In Twelve Seat, go to Settings → Connected services → Anthropic (Claude), paste the key and click Save, then Test.

Good to know

  • Set a monthly spend limit in the Console (Settings → Limits) so costs never surprise you.
  • Twelve Seat encrypts your key (AES-256) and never shows it again or sends it to your browser.
  • Never paste your key into a chat, email or the Help assistant. If you think it leaked, delete it in the Console and create a new one.
